Catarina is registered as an International Para Athlete. She competes in the following sports internationally Track (100m, 200m, 400m and Long Jump) and Soccer. Domestically Catarina has competed in adaptive swimming, Para Triathlon, Indoor Rock Climbing, TaeKwonDO and Field Events.

Since the day she learn to take her first steps, Catarina Guimaraes has been on the run.
What started as fitness for soccer turned into a passion for getting faster. At the national level representing the USA, Catarina is world ranked and considered one of the top female cerebral palsy sprinters in the Americas. Setting national records for the last three years and competing in national and international competitions Catarina remains as one of the youngest cerebral palsy athletes on team USA.
As a member of the Navigators adaptive sports club, Catarina is one of the senior athletes. Representing the club at local, regional and national meets. Fostering a mentorship role for younger girls entering the sport of track and field. A two time winner of the women's sportsmanship award for her dedication and eagerness to work with younger girls.
As a high school track athlete, Catarina made the varsity indoor track team her freshman year. Her work ethic and desire to get better and compete against able bodied athletes has resulted in performing better at Adaptive events.

Catarina began playing soccer in the first year of elementary school. She was always smaller a little slower but tough as nails when she had the ball.
Over the years Catarina has worked on increasing her development of touch, spatial awareness and shooting. While soccer can be challenging for able-bodied athletes it is more challenging for CP athletes who must concentrate on walking, let alone dribbling, shooting and passing.
With the national Cp Soccer US team, Catarina has travel to Ireland to compete against other boys and Cp Soccer internationally. While competing for Cp Soccer US, Catarina has demonstrated leadership and sportsmanship.
As a member of her high school freshman and JV soccer team, Catarina has worked to bring her playing ability to the level of able-bodied athletes.

One of Catarina sponsors is the Challenged Athletes Foundation, they are a major sponsor of the Westchester triathlon held every September in Rye New York.
Catarina competes annually against other adaptive athletes and finds herself on the podium every year.
